No snow lately....

It wasn't a white Christmas here...
No snow, but lots of cold water....

And I have been thinking of my plans, and my word of the year for 2015.
In 2012 I tried to find a BALANCE in life.
between work and play
between highs and lows
between creativity and calm

In 2013 it was FOCUS
to focus on what was important
and to focus on the goal instead of reacting

then 2014 was AWE
I spent  a lot of time being aware of the awe I feel for things in nature,
and the little small parts of my life that I am thankful for.

I have decided on COMPLETE for 2015.
I am taking many meanings of the word...
first of all I plan to complete the projects I have started instead of moving onto something new whenever I get the whim.
Plus I will remind myself that I am complete as is,
nothing I need to do,
 nothing I need to try,
nothing I need to become.
It's all OK as is!

but to help with all those ongoing yearly words I still have a list of things to try to achieve in 2015.
I think it is all but impossible for me not to make resolutions for New Years Day.
But instead of saying I want to diet or to lose so many pounds,
I am saying I will try to eat better.
It seems easier to achieve that way

eat more vegetables and less sugar
hike more
do taichi and yoga more
finish the novel
finish the children's book
be thankful more
notice beauty more
pay it forward more
laugh more
spend less time on the internet
clear out clutter
simplify

Happy new year!

Looking back

Looking back over this year i have accomplished quite a few things i had hoped for in 2014.....
I tried out a few new hobbies and really liked them....

Wood carving, see the post here...

Woodburning, here

I also had fun hiking with family...here

And did a lot of paintings....some are  here,
 herehere, and here

And tried some new foraged foods.... here., and here,

And started a garden...here, here

And canned tons from our garden...

and made a lot of smoothies from my garden... here and here...

 And i worked on  a children's picture book..here and here..and .. The bee queen's message

And wrote almost a complete novel... here and here and  wild phlox season

I joined Nanowrimo, ICAD, PPF,, and Creative Everyday month in November...And i am sure there's more.... But i am starting to really plan goals for 2015 over the next couple days... Once i get the tree down and all. I'd keep it up longer but with the extra pets here over Christmas it's too hard to keep them all out of it. (With my two cats and a dog and with the two cats my oldest daughter brought home with her for the week, and the 3 animals that belong to my second daughter who is living back home again, that makes 5 cats, two dogs and 1 bunny).
It's almost as hard as keeping my son (or myself) out of everybody's christmas chocolate or the christmas fudge!
Hope everyone had as nice a christmas as we did here!

Merry Christmas

Hope your holidays out there are going well, full of whatever makes you feel happy and warm.
Not much new art to show here...
i have been trying to make some Christmas presents, and reading and planning...
I have decorated my tree twice:
My son admires all the ornaments on our tree and when trying to pull one off to play with it,
the whole tree tipped over. I lost a few ornaments but nothing too special.

Still have the Christmas pickle...

Here's the wikipedia story:The Christmas pickle is a Christmas tradition in the United States. A decoration in the shape of a pickle is hidden on a Christmas tree, with the finder receiving either a reward or good fortune for the following year. There are a number of different origin stories attributed to the tradition, but it was primarily thought to have originated in Germany. This has since been disproved and is now thought to be an American tradition from the late 19th century.

What I did lose this year was a sad thing:
my dog ate my plastic rudolf figure from a whole christmas town set I had.
So sad!
I am sure I can find a replacement somewhere on the internet.

I will leave you to your holiday celebrations with a sweet little pair of twin snowmen my husband left on our porch for me one morning...
they're about 6 inches tall...
And he says he's not creative?!?

Merry Christmas!
