My "tree" for Scribblepicnic

Hello all,
I have had this idea on my head for awhile now.... to take the characters that I started doing for the paperdolls that I made....

(the ones with fairies and their friends; I can't even remember if I posted them. I will check and if not i will show you them soon, and hopefully will be listing them on Etsy soon)

....and making a picture book around them. It was just one idea of many so I hadn't worked on it yet, but I thought for this week's illustration for scribblepicnic over at Michael MacVean's blog I would see what ideas came up for my story because I want the fairies and their friends to be in a little woodland area. I had another story idea of fanciful birds leaving messages for little children so I ended up combining the two in this. I am not sure I like the two together but it was an experiment.
Not sure what will come of it, if anything, but it was fun to imagine...

I have been creating everyday. Mostly abstract or semi abstract watercolors because I just can't get enough of watching the paint flow, and the colors blend. Of course, sometimes that type of meditation is still not enough to wash away all anxiety. On one of those days recently I had to bring out the big guns and go shopping at the antique store.... I found some more embroidered towels.... can't seems to get enough of them lately. It always does the trick.

I added one of the watercolors to my spoonflower account, and from there I linked to roostery which shows you how your design would look on their items, and let's you purchase them. If you click on the image below it should take you to their site where you can purchase my design or your own design on a ready made pillow....or napkins, or even a chair!

My springtime(?)

I took this little photo of crocus finally popping thru a week ago or so....it shows Bigbig home from his travels enjoying our spring weather.

Then a few days later there was this....

Then this morning there was this....

I think Mother Nature is confused!

So since nature isn't providing I have been painting my own color.....

Happy paint party Friday!

Light it up blue

If you follow me on instagram you may have seen these photos.... I post there daily, and I have joined the 100 day project, because I can't seem to get enough of doing these watercolor paintings lately. They are relaxing, meditative, mindful just like painting mandalas. If I feel stressed watching paint flow helps! My hash tag for the project is #100daysofjoyouswatercolor. The originals are available in my Etsy shop.

But as today is autism awareness day I have done one in blue. (Too dark so the colors are not true in these photos) ....Because if you have followed my blog for long you know my son is classified as having non verbal autism. He is 14 and a big, giant sweetheart.

- happy autism awareness day!
