My new wonky word of the year ornaments

Not really meant as Christmas ornaments, these are more to hang where you can see them all year, over a desk, by the sink where you do dishes, next to your work space....

They have a bit of fabric machine sewn, and a bit of felt hand sewn, and a bit of watercolor paper tied on. Too much fun to make only three, more to come I think.

(And the felt is made with 100% post consumer recycled plastic bottles, and they are stuffed with recycled plastic grocery bags so you can hear them krinkle a bit.)

Textile pieces

My new mixed media quilted ornaments.
I need a better name for these things, but I can't seem to come up with anything.
But I am having fun making them! After i made the fabric mini books and lucky penny dolls that i posted last week, i wanted to do more sewing projects so these came about. They are little art quilts i guess. I messily machine quilted a few scraps then used those to paint and embroider onto. More in the works for brooches and pendants and more ornaments.....

They should be in my etsy shop soon, i hope. I have a new mac now so i should be able to get photos fixed and posted easier.....

Happy PPF!

How to relax in 15 minutes

Keep watercolor crayons, a brush, water and a sketchbook handy...
Don't expect a certain outcome...
Relax and start coloring from the middle of the page out...
Add water...
paint right from the crayon...
Splatter a little...
after 15 minutes stop!
It always makes me feel better...
Everytime!
then later, when i have another 15 minutes,
I go back and add white acrylic ink doodles to this type of mandala in my sketchbook...
It'll make you smile...

a carved bird

I showed you this little carved bird last week... my first attempt at carving.

Well here he is in his progress to completeness...
a little woodburning....
a little watercolor....
covered by white acrylic
and then some of that rubbed off...

Introducing...
Blakely

Sitting with his buddies
well... his buddies are still hidden in their blocks waiting to be created.

playing in my sketchbook

I hadn't put too much in my sketchbook for a long while until the girls and flowers i showed recently.....
then i started doing these....
I put down random blobs of watercolor,
let it dry and drew around what i could see,
not a new idea or anything,
i've seen lots of books or blogs where people do this,
but i hadn't in awhile, and it's sort of addicting and fun.
Plus i end up seeing and drawing things i never would have drawn that way without trying this,
...like this little fox.
He showed up in green, sort of fox-like but not really.
so then i tried him again on a paint chip named marigold.
So now I have this character, Marigold, the fox. I like him...

Happy paint party friday and hello all at Artists Play room! and hello to the creative everyday people!

white on white

I love white on white, and decided to stay with white gel pen on these white bits of ocean glass....I think they would look good in a little white tea cup on  someone's desk or in bird's nest or a little bowl crafted by tiny hands of paper clay....

This last one is drawn on a pottery shard, it's about 2 inches across.
They're listed in my etsy shop if anyone is interested.
