AEDM day 3

A simple sketch with a touch of watercolor.....not much else to say about it.
I love the black and white with just one color.... I had to stop here as i was tempted to keep adding color, but i like it as it is now....

painting shoes again

I am working on finishing some of that art from last week but there's so much else to do too...
I decided I really like making bright colorful flats or sneaks... my first pair are here
and my new pair are shown here in progress...

Inspired by the colors of the daylilly...

I mixed up some fabric paints with water to be less stiff, and used a pen as a stamp, I stamped polkadots. I almost wish I had stopped right there with just yellow polkadots but i kept stamping with smaller pens, I did some doodling in my ICAD book to try out looks, then when it was all done, it seemed a tad too bright so i smudged white over top the dots to tone it down. I am pleased with my new pair!

I will show you what else I did with daylillies on monday...

playing in my sketchbook

I hadn't put too much in my sketchbook for a long while until the girls and flowers i showed recently.....
then i started doing these....
I put down random blobs of watercolor,
let it dry and drew around what i could see,
not a new idea or anything,
i've seen lots of books or blogs where people do this,
but i hadn't in awhile, and it's sort of addicting and fun.
Plus i end up seeing and drawing things i never would have drawn that way without trying this,
...like this little fox.
He showed up in green, sort of fox-like but not really.
so then i tried him again on a paint chip named marigold.
So now I have this character, Marigold, the fox. I like him...

Happy paint party friday and hello all at Artists Play room! and hello to the creative everyday people!

orange and hot pink

This week at summer of color the colors are orange and hot pink... I didn't think I would have any shoes or outfits to match this week, not that that was a requirement but I got so many comments on my shoes last week that I thought I'd try to pull an outfit together, which is actually even harder when you don't like to photograph yourself.....camera shy and all....
so here's a necklace I made up last night...
I have had the beads since highschool (over 30 years ago), I bought them in a bead store in Pittsford, NY and may have made them into a necklace at one time or another but they were just sitting in my stash now, I have a huge messy collection of unorganized beads and findings. I would love to get them organized, it would easier to create but it's so far down on the to-do list it will probably never happen. Besides, you can create beauty out of chaos...

This mandala is much bigger than my usual 8x10 ones.... more like 11x16 I think or even bigger actually... I am almost late for work or I would measure...
see you next week!

Back to zentangling for what's on your workdesk wednesday

This week the challenge over at IamtheDivaCZT was to use the new tangle created by the founders of Zentangles, Rick and Maria. It's called Bunzo and you can find directions on how to draw it here. I have made a few pages with it in my sketchbook....

ok.... wait...... the first pictures are of last weeks challenge which was to use stripes but i never got around to posting it so you have to see that one first.....

Now here's the one with bunzo which is the tangle in the center that looks like clam shells or fungi on a log.... i like this one, i think it will be one of my favorite tangles to use....

This one was also based on the zendala challenge at the bright owl. i have made mine long to fit in my sketchbook instead of sticking to a mandala circle but it basically follows her template in idea. Not a good photo of it though, hard to get enough light this time of year.

This one reminded me of a little planet once I got going, which then reminded me of the book, 'the little prince' which i have read at least 5 times but i decided I needed to read again, so I quit tangling for the day and read.

"Good bye " said the fox. "And now here is my secret, a very simple secret: It is only with the heart one can see rightly. What is essential is invisible to the eye."
"What is essential is invisible to the eye," the little prince repeated, so that he would be sure to remember.
" It is the time you have wasted for your rose that makes your rose so important."
"It is the time I have wasted for my rose-" said the little prince so that he would be sure to remember.
"Men have forgotten this truth "said the fox. "but you must never forget it. You become responsible forever for what you have tamed. You are responsible for your rose."
"I am responsible for my rose" the little prince repeated so he would be sure to remember.

Coi and crow, the new mother painting

It's mandarin orange monday and i promised a painting video...well it is lost in youtube, it seems it takes more  than 1day of being uploaded to youtube to make it visible even when i am typing the exact tags. I seem to have two accounts and can't sign into the correct one from google... All this makes no sense to me............. so today i just have photos of the painting, maybe tomorow the video will be available....

I can't exactly say why all these mothers are naked, it's just the way i see them. You can read into that what you will, and the same for the coi and crow, i had no actual symbolism in mind, it's just what I saw. This was actually reworked over and over, i had such trouble with the hair. I saw it as a mass of swirling moving coi getting tangled in her hair and I think it's finally like my thought but it took a bit of changing things to get there. I took out at least 2 more crows that were originally there. I wanted the leaves to be swirling away from the new mother, all energy coming from her.....

I am linking to mandarin orange monday, and creative everyday...

an orange week

This week I 've got an orange post inspired by Summer of Color.  Find them here...
http://twinkletwinklelikeastar.blogspot.com/
Their theme is orange this week. I wish I'd found them sooner as I love being inspired by color.I have so many ideas for orange paintings now. Here's some other orange stuff...
An orange lilly from some flowers I was given. I meant to sketch it but didn't get around to it.

Don't ya just love orange polish!

Before you judge these to harshly, keep in mind this is a tiny sketchbook, about 5" or so, and usually what I sketch in it I work on for less than 15 minutes. This little orange newt was one of 28 my husband and I saw on a walk on our vacation earlier. I sketched him after almost stepping on him and carried him to live in the fairy house I had made...

The sad ending to this story is that the last day before we left, my son was climbing on that great stump, mistook the roof of my fairy house for more root and stepped on it, squishing the house totally. But don't worry, no fairy or newt was harmed!

And lastly,. a finished watercolor from a week or more ago... I don't think I ever shared it yet though...

don't forget to stop at all the usual friday sites to see more great stuff! Thanks for stopping by.
