hello spring finally

This week the snow is gone and we've had beautiful 80 degree weather...
what a difference a few days made...
there are tiny snow drops all over my overgrown flower beds...
and the little purple flower are back in my yard, not violets yet, but something else, (I can't remember their name)...
actually I shouldn't have even mentioned them as I don't have a photo...
But the purplish weed photographed is dead nettle.
I do have tons of that up...
and I tried it in a salad this week as it is supposedly very good for you and completely edible.
I didn't mind it but my family hated it.
I did read on other websites that people often put it in smoothies instead of salads to get the nutrients without the texture.
 maybe I will try that,

as for art,
I did a variety of things but only have one thing to show...
do you remember BigBig from last summer?
(If not, then click here for one of many posts about our trip with Bigbig)
well, he was going to be in my alphabet book on the B page with this tiny sketch of him, but then I went back to an old idea I had for him and am off into a new/old direction!
I will let you know where it takes me later.
(I love twisted paths and divergent roads anyway...........)

4 things that make me happy

1.  There are finally signs of spring in my yard...
I looked these up...
they are called Glory of the snow....

2. I have been obsessively re-reading all my Alice Hoffman books... I have about 11 or 12 and she's written so many more that it makes me happy knowing I have plenty more to look forward to...

3. I have been even more obsessively watching these...
My older son talked me into watching the first episode, I didn't want to. I had heard about it everywhere and didn't want to watch it for some reason... maybe because everyone else liked it.
But one episode and you are hooked...
He got me these for an early mothers day gift. I am now only at the beginning of season three so no spoilers please. I am in love with Jon Snow and Tyrion Lannister so if they die do NOT tell me...

And the season sets each come with a map... don't you just love the opening credits with the maps and gears?

4. I got this sooo cute and wonderfully filled May basket from my MOM for May day. I am enjoying it bit by bit. It was arranged better before the photo, I have rooted around in it now and smelled all the pretty smelling soaps and such...Thanks Mom!

There have been no signs of spring in my yard yet so I planted some seeds to see a bit of green ....
mint
parsley
basil

Pretty spindly..... but they are growing, my son hasn't dumped them or my cat chewed them, so all is well in their world for now.

I wanted to paint something at work the other day,
and i had no plan in mind,
i hadn't sketched anything,
I didn't feel like drawing anything out ....
i just wanted to see paint flow...
 and quickly.
Used to be a falling lady would appear or a mandala...
i thought about a mandala and just letting it be wobbly without having drawn any circles or pans out....
 but what appeared was this...

You can see I didn't use any pencil, just dove right in...
so then I just kept adding animals around her....

Then it seemed like she had a story to tell...
so i did another painting the same way....

And I taped it up above my ugly work area to ponder, and see if her story comes to me....

 Crows keep appearing
Murders of crows still coming
tales to tell I think

Happy Paint party friday, and hello all at haiku my heart!
