Timbe and her turtle

My computer has died yet again. It happens at least once a year. After last time when I lost over a years worth of photos I have been much more diligent about saving all my photos to a thumb drive. But I don't think I managed to save my last 4 videos that I made for the mandala class I was creating because I didn't have room left on the drive and then I kept forgetting to buy a new one. I would say that is a sign I need to give up on making that class, at least temporarily anyway. Time to concentrate on other things! And I certainly have enough other ideas to go with for awhile.

It does put a little crimp in my blog plans as now I will not be able to use the photos I did save till I get a new computer or fix the old one as I don't have a way to get them from the drive onto the web, but I have the iPad and can take new photos of whatever I need. I may get a Mac this time as I am sick of viruses. I  had to rant a bit but actually I don't even want to think about it now..... On to other things!

Here's another little watercolor girl for the alphabet book I started.....it is still in progress as I haven't finished the lettering or the turtle details. But I am submitting it in time for Sunday sketches at bluechairdiary.blogspot.com !

  1. So so cute. I love that the colors and pattern of the girl's dress are compatible to the turtle's shell. And green is my favorite color anyway.

  8. She's just lovely Andrea! The alphabet kids are really coming along and I adore the sea-green hues in this one so much.

I am sorry to hear of you computer woes. .. and I'd like to add a voice to the mac/pc choice. I was a PC user for 25 years. Thought Macs to be haughty and overpriced. But then a customer at my old coffeehouse gave me a Mac Mini. He'd won it at his office party and didn't need it and offered it to me. I took it, more to be polite as I was still PC all the way. Well, in the last 5 years I have changed that tune completely. I won't say Mac is perfect as that would be a stretch. And I am frustrated as much by the need to constantly update and the lack of support for older versions of the OS. For instance, my Mac Mini is now completely obsolete though I still use it for my art work, writing and photoshop/editing as I just deal with the lack of updates quite well. I was used to the older versions of those programs and the new bells and whistles don't interest me at all. I don't use it for the internet much as I can't use newer browsers on it. But it STILL is better than any PC I owned! lol I have an older laptop (Mac as well) and an Ipad that I use for all internet and online work but I know that eventually the laptop will also become obsolete and I'll be forced to buy a newer one.

But, all of that said, the benefits? Not once in five years have I had a virus/crash. Not one!!!! I can't tell you th number o hours I used to spend on keeping my old PC safe and clean. That alone is worth it all but also, the cloud for backing up and storing information automatically which allows for the ease of linking my laptop and Ipad so that all of my writing and files are instantly accessible on both no matter which I create them on.

So, I used to say, with a fair amount of nose-in-the-air pride "why buy a Mac when I could buy three PC laptops for the same price?" Funny thing is, thanks to viruses and crashes, I did just that in the end. . . and it was a whole world more of trouble and time spent.

Anyway, that's just an insight from an old PC diehard who is is now a convert. :) We are sending you lots of warm wishes for a healthier computer soon! :)

  9. Beautiful! The girl and the turtle. The colors are lovely. Good luck with the computer purchase. I find buying any gadgets, now-a-days, very stressful. So many choices, so many things to decide.

  10. a Mac or PC, you get what you pay for. its about doing the research for what is best for you (not a Mac fan tho and I am design student because you are just paying for the name when it come to a lot of their gear. )Mac or PC both have their ups and downs, anyway,....

love all the green in your art :)
