I have another finished acrylic painting to show you this week. This one is bigger. I'd tell you how big but I just don't feel like going to measure it right now. I started with fingerpainting the rosey colored swirls, and just like the other painting of the Great Mother, this Mother just appeared as well. Her hair was even bigger at first, taking up the whole top of the painting but I finally realized that had to be toned down a bit. That was about the only part I struggled with at all.... this was actually a very easy painting to create.
I did however learn that you can't paint over acrylic ink like you can regular acrylic.... even when it's dry it smears into the new color you add. The red and black lines on this are acrylic ink and next time I won't add them until I am sure I am done changing background colors and such.
She is of this earth.
She holds all in her warm arms....
safe... and warm.... and home.
Stop by Haiku my heart at Recuerdo Mi Corazon

ReplyDeletethis is fabulous - her hair is amazing! I didn't evenknow about acrylic ink but I now want some as I love the crip clean black lines and as I'm toying with doing doodimals in acrylic as well as ink and watercolour that might be just the ticket (I just won't paint over it - thanks for the advice!)
ReplyDeleteWow am so loving your fabulous painting its so full of joy and life. Happy PPF, Annette x
ReplyDeleteSuch an amazing and complex painting...and so beautifully haiku-ed!
ReplyDeleteso beautiful! I actually like the way the ink smeared -- looks like the wind blowing through. Happy PPF
ReplyDeleteIt feels like there is movement all around her but she is solid and stable. Ink smearing adds interest, I think. Nice!! :)
ReplyDeletenice acrylic!
ReplyDeleteThis is fabulous and reminds me that Women, the givers of life, are as Sacred as any other creation. They are the backbone of any community and take care of the Water and breathe Life into all things. This is an epitome of that stance. I love it. I believe it can be shown with depictions of the Blessed Virgin Mother, as all Women are of this image. The haiku is wonderful and also tells of this miracle of life itself.
ReplyDeleteMuch Peace

ReplyDeleteHello Andrea, I love this! For some reason, I focused on the second picture first and thought it was an underwater scene, and the great mother was a mermaid, then I saw the whole picture and I moved from water to earth to sky! Your technique here is fabulous thank you for sharing this with us, and bringing us into her arms, safe and warm and home!
