Finding more small magic

I have another video for you that I made,  there's a mandala in flowers and  a little bit of me painting a self portrait, although I will say it looks more like me when I was younger and thinner than it does  now. My eyes are too big here, and my  hair in this is black instead of brown,  but I guess that's the way I saw myself when I looked in the rear view mirror to paint it. I don't show painting the whole thing as it was too hard to hold the camera and paint in the car! But it's only a few minutes long so please watch it!

I do see myself
Without wrinkles and still thin
Mirrors tell small tales

Pieces of ourselves
Shared on fridays with others
Pieces of my heart

Happy paint party friday and haiku my heart!

  1. lovely video, enjoyed watching it build, flower by flower, brush stroke by brush stroke...

and then giving it all back

  2. Look at you in your cute barefoot sandals! People laugh at me because I still wear jeans in 100 degree weather (my legs are just not shorts-worthy)....you, on the other hand, have beautiful ones!

I love the real flower mandala...what a neat idea!
...and, as always, your watercolors leave me speechless :)

  5. Loved the video. Everyday beauty made into art. Your self portrait is wonderful as is the arrangements you so carefully created and whimsically destroyed~ All beauty must die eventually.

  6. Amazing...did you really paint this whole portrait sitting in your car looking in the rearview mirror? I find that hard to believe! Wow. What a terrific portrait it is...no matter that is not you as in a photo or mirror! Mirrors lie you know. I have no idea who the aging woman is in mine of late. Don't know where the heck she came from. But I let her stay.
I loved your video. Loved the gathering of flowers and the creation of the mandala. I gasped when your red sandaled foot tossed them all asunder!

HPPF! and thanks for sharing so much! Really, your mom MADE those sandals? Wow again!

  7. Hello beatufiul you! I love your portrait. The flower mandala was gorgeous. The monks who spend hours on their sand mandalas also send them out into the Universe with love just as you did with your flower mandala. And those red sandals are really cute! Happy PPF

  8. Great self-portrait and building of the flower mandala. When you kicked it apart it reminded me of when I watched the Tibetan monks put together a sand mandala for three days and then destroy it. Nothing is permanent in this world. Lovely video!!! :)

  13. Mirrors tell small tales. They also tell large ones. The point is: Never believe a mirror! :)

  14. I so enjoyed this Andrea... wow. Your haiku, the music, the self portrait, your creating the flower mandala and then dispersing it... like the Buddhist sand paintings... I love what MMT said, "never believe a mirror!" I do however, believe in the beauty you create! Thank you!

  17. I enjoyed your video.... such a pretty mandala that you made.

    and a great portrait too.

I made a mandala for PPF.... and found mandalas in the garden too.

Pretty footwear.... I didn't know the thing about breaking up the mandala but it makes sense :)

  26. It is funny how we 'see' ourselves in our mind with 'one age'.. while the mirror shows the aging process. It's like the image in our mind stays - I would say around - 30-something. Love your painting!

  27. I rarely look in the mirror, I do not recognize that person. . . . Love the painting. Blessings, Janet PPF

I invite you to share your more orange art (photos of art or photo art) on Mandarin Orange Monday. Actually - video art too if you have any orange-ish ones. Would love to have some video art there.

  31. I enjoyed your lovely creative video. I use to have a vanity mirror that was made out of auto glass, (things appear smaller than they actually are):-).

  32. What a fun video. I love your self portrait! Does it matter if it is a younger, thinner you? It's still you! Anyway, we artists can use artistic license any time we want. :)
