how to trade on etsy

recently I had a shop offer to trade with me on etsy, which I love doing...
I traded a painting....

and a pendant of that painting....

for a bunch of homemade soaps and bath scrubs and lotion from TheSnowyWhiteOwl
 I love them all....

This is a great shop, (and I am not getting anything from her to tell you.... I just really liked the items!)... and she threw in a bunch of little samples. I loved every scent!

The body scrub is my favorite, it smells like incense and patchouli to me... reminds me of going into incense shops in the 70's where they sold ceramic mushrooms and black light posters. There'd be a whole blacklight section where it was dark and interesting. I love that smell.

I have done a few trades on etsy now and I have always been pleased... the way I have done it is to have each shop enable "other" as a payment option, Then each person goes in and purchases the item by clicking on other at the check out. This way you get to leave feedback or reviews as they are called now for other potential customers to see. Etsy will still get their fee from you though so it's all OK.
To set up "other" if you have an etsy shop and want to trade, go to the top of the screen "your Shop" and click on "info and appearance", then on the side under "shop settings" click on "payment". At the bottom you will see "other". Just check it and save. You might want to change this back after the trade so your next customer won't accidentally check it.

sharing the joy and the winner of my tiny giveaway...

I numbered the comments from saturday's post and popped them into a white pot that looks surprisingly like the one the Teller of Tales used in the forest in my video.... and drew number 13! that's Pyrie!
She is the winner of the tiny pocket talisman below and the origami star that says "the answer is yes" inside!

This rock is Really tiny, like 1/2 inch or so...

and now for the JOY....I am finding joy in the fall leaves this week, my yard is a solid carpet of orange and yellow....

so much raking to be done... hopefully we'll get a sunny day this weekend. That would be perfect!
and since I asked for questions for something to blog about... Cameron asked if I was planning to paint animals on any rocks? I actually was... I was thinking about fish, and birds and possible insects, maybe a snail or two. what would anyone out there like to see on a rock?
also, if anyone has a question I can answer in a post let me hear it. I still have to answer Natashas's question about wierd dreams soon too and a couple other questions i got yesterday...! there's always tomorow.... see ya!

How to buy a pumpkin

I am sharing the joy today!
I had a lovely afternoon off work yesterday to go to an appt. And I sold a rock to a coworker...

and so had $3 in my pocket. I stoppped at all three little farm stands that sell pumpkins on my way home and bought something from each. OK, I had to scrape together $2 in quarters from my car by the time i got to the third place but what a deal! Don't you just LOVE a farm stand with a handpainted sign!!!!

Finishing one at a time

For my share the joy post this week I am happy to report I am finishing things finally.....Here's my latest painting finally finished, I actually finished two this week and will post the other soon.  This one is slightly different for me... acrylics for one and no falling ladies or mandalas for another... just the Great Mother. This was done in the style where you just start layering colors with no real plan in mind... it had about 4 layers when I saw the Mother, then started painting around the flowers and figures. I really enjoy this style of art, it's fun and stressfree to work on.

I really enjoy these colors too, almost the whole thing was done using just black acrylic and  then white acrylic mixed with watercolor crayons. I think I only used pink, purple and blue and green. So for the Artist's play room, those are me favorite colors lately, 4 shades mixed with lots of white to make them pale and soft...

share the joy

I used to put lists of small pleasures, things I was grateful for, happy moments, my little likes, joys etc.  in my journals daily. I have not been doing that lately and I need to get back to that practice. This week I want to share the joy with photos of a few of the things from my lists....

A flower from my back deck...

 Starting a new mandala....

Enjoying the river on my lunch hour...

The artwork that inspired hundreds of treasuries for this week's nonteamchallenge!...

The strawberry creamcheese bagel my husband made for me...

See you tomorow with some finished art work...

Summer of Color

Here's my mandala inspired by the Rainbow sherbert cone over at TwinkleTwinkle for the Summer of Color, I missed it last year and wanted to play along this summer. Even if you don't go see all the other rainbow sherbert colored art, You should follow that link just to see the great photo of the inspiration icecream, makes you want to eat some, even at this time in the morning! It will bring you JOY! These are just such HAPPY colors!

I liked this mandala until I added lines with a pink and an orange gel pen instead of my usual black one, then it just started to loose all contrast and blend together. It helped a little when I added white correction pen highlights.

Then for Iamthediva and Artist'sPlayRoom, I  zentangled with the same colors in black sharpie, pink gel pen and orange watercolor. This tangle is called Bridgen....

See you tomorow for more glimpses into my sketchbook and a haiku....
