something new!

hello all, I've got a tutorial for my fiber art friday friends, sort of a tutorial... This is my first video showing how I created something so there are no fancy frills and edits or anything, maybe next time. And I'm sure I will try it again, as I think it's like eatting chips or getting a tattoo, you always want to do more...

Anyway, it's only 2 minutes so please check it out and let me know what you think...

The weather this week went from glorious autumn to rainy and cold and foggy...

This week I finished a watercolor butterfly and I'm mailing it to a butterfly effect project over at...http://twodressesstudio.blogspot.com/
read about the project here..
http://twodressesstudio.blogspot.com/2010/08/butterfly-effect-open-is-calling-you.html
to expalin  a little I copied this from her blog...

The Butterfly Project mandate is   to remember the 1,500,000 innocent children who perished as a result of the Holocaust  by collecting 1.5 million handmade butterflies

In Spring 2013, these butterflies will then become a break-taking exhibition to serve as a memory of this event.
This is such an interesting project... I've been to the Holocaust museum in DC and it's a very hard place to visit. So incredibly shocking and sad.
You can participate too... either through the blog above by mailing your butterfly there or you can do it on your own through the address she provides. At her blog she has photos of all the butterflies she's gathered and shipped out...

I'm linking to Inspiration Avenue , please go by there as they've got a blog anniversary going on, with freebies and more...http://inspiration-avenue-team.blogspot.com/
They asked what inspires each of us... for me it's nature mostly, feelings and moods next, then there's always other's art... and holidays inspire me too, and the weather and people watching. etc etc etc...

and to the butterfly effect. their theme is wings.....http://whisper-to-whirlwind.blogspot.com/
and to creative friday, and of course... paint party friday!
http://paintpartyfriday.blogspot.com/

and Yeah to me, I won a copy of

Destination Creativity: The Life-Altering Journey of the Art Retreat [Paperback]

by Rice Freeman-Zachery   from Seth Apter's the alteredpage blog!!!...
http://thealteredpage.blogspot.com/    I'm so excited!
See ya next week...

another week...

Hello all, This week's got me a little nervous, My son starts school wednesday and it's a whole new school  and new teachers and everything. In general, as most autistic kids, he doesn't handle change, so I'm a little worried. I normally love september, love the fall air and the new start to everything. Just hoping for the best!

My submission for paint party friday this week is a little different for me... yeah, only a tiny bit  different as it;s still a lady, and flowers, but I went for a more realistic lady instead of the ones out of my head.... here's what I mean...

And since I need real things for this style I've been taking more pictures of "things" instead of just my kids so that I'll have images to draw from. At one of the blogs, now I can't remember who, sorry, the blogowner was going to take a photo a day. I thought that sounded like a great idea but I haven't managed one a day as my camera dies because I forget to charge it. I have carried it in my purse forever so I'd always have it it I needed it. I do take alot of pictures of clouds, and have for years. Here's a few from last week...

And of course I need something for the fiber art friday people... my daughter tried wet felting before leaving for college... here's her felted river rocks...

Oh, I almost forgot... I did fix the lips on my sunflower lady, just a little though, she's still pouting, maybe you won't even be able to see the difference...she's still pouty but more disapproving...
                                                                              before...

after....

I may have to change it again, I'm still not happy with it...

                                                                see ya next week...

Happy paint party friday!

Another week has flown by, I was determined to finish somethig instead of starting something new but it was not to be, I started another watercolor and almost finished it. I can't even show you though as it's still at work and I am not yet. so here's a few of the started painting's I have waiting to be worked on... All I've done is her hair and the balloons...

This is how I do my watercolors, I rarely do much wet into wet  and I use this same tiny brush for usually the whole painting. I HAVE other brushes so I don't know why I never pick the others up. My paints are actually much cleaner than usual, most of the time there's actually mixed colors all over the lid as well. Nothing fancy here.

And here's the other one I started a while ago...in ACRYLIC! Only have the clouds done so far...

The theme for the sketchbook challenge this month was everyday objects so I did a few quick sketches in my tiny book. I found I don't like sketching man made objects as much as nature....

and as we've had a busy week here... the earthquake where we evacuated our building; a dentist appt. which I panic about, I hate dentists;and  I won the alpacateam challenge again! Yeah, so much fun!; and then there was sending my daughter back to college and such: so....I didn't needlefelt again, surprise surprise, but before she left she made this cute pin!

I made it to all the paint party friday sites last week I think, but I apologize as I did not get to all the creative friday ones or all the fiber art friday ones. There's just so much cool stuff to see and only so much time!

Have a great week,

another fast week...

I missed a week as we were on vacation in a great state park on a tiny lake! so relaxing and quiet! We hiked fished and swam and I sketched a bit in my book, and we made sand castles... well... sand mermaids!.

Not sure what to show this week... I guess I'll go with what a cluttered mess my mind is now that I'm backhome again...
I have soooo many unfinished watercolors and/or acrylics on brown paper....maybe 30 or so.....

I have started clay belly birds and my son smushed them....

I have been working on some dolls I started a year ago....and the dioramas I showed 2 weeks ago aren't finished yet...

We were given a bag of wool and I made a bead that's hoping to be part of a great, colorful wacky pendant necklace with a big floral center someday....

And on my lunch I went to see some of the other palette's that are now set up around Hammondsport! So many really great ones that I was more than intimidated about mine. Here's just a few of the 50 or so palettes... Prepare to be impressed, although the photos don't really do them justice!...

Have a great week everybody, and hello to all those from whimsical wednesday, and  happy friday to all those at paint party friday, crafty friday, creative friday and Fiberart friday!

wow, this week went fast...

Can't believe it's friday already, I haven't even visited all the sites from last friday.

So  Hello evryone at paint party friday! This week I have my jointed paper dolls to show you. They're painted in watercolor and cut out and put together with brads then decorated. They're already in my shop on etsy.

This is what I wrote about her for the shop: "This lady: Ceyandra is all about being green. She recycles, she takes care of the earth and she loves every minute of it. She'll be a reminder to reuse, recycle and make do, as well as to remind you to get out into the wild and enjoy life!!!"

This doll, Bronwyn, is all about her friends. She's funny, happy and the best friend you've always wanted. Having her hang around your house will remind you to pick up the phone and call a friend you haven't seen in a while, or you could even buy her for a friend!

And for fiberart friday people... Hello there too.... again I haven't felted all week but Brandy has. These are in her shop:

I love them!

Next week I should have a bunch to show as I'm working on dioramas in altoids tins, I'm trying to fininsh up a bunch of paintings and I'm about done with my sisterhood sketchbook. I totally love getting them in the mail  to look over!!!  Don't forget to also stop by creative friday, crafty friday and whimsical wednesday! Hello to everyone from there!
