I'd started it almost a year ago, almost, never finished and probably wouldn't have but for this challenge... It's bottled fireflies, bottled summer, bottled moonlight!

Illustration Friday submission for Cultivate
These ladies are cultivating sunflowers, friendship, summer feeling and all that I'd love right now...
Don't you just want to wear a big hat and walk through a field of sunflowers right about now?

this week's stuff...and Illustration Friday
This week I finished a few more needlefelted things with my daughter. These are fun and easy to do at home, unlike the painting that I do at work. I finished Miss Petunia, who is Tweet's girlfriend... and you can see they're very much in LOVE!. I keep thinking of all sorts of stories for them. Maybe I'll make a little 'zine up for them. Not sure yet. I also finished Maybeline's butterfly for her to ride!.

At work I made this painting, thought it was done then as I kept looking at it I just wasn't happy with the amount of contrast so I added black leaves. Which do you like better? Did I ruin it or help it? It's this week's submission to Illustration friday as it's my warning girl... It's also a warning to me to sometimes leave well enough alone and not to go back and rework a painting... but actually in this case I like the second one better.
Check out these friday creative challenges: http://themagiconions.blogspot.com/ for their nature table

Illustration Friday submission for "layer"
This is an little bit older watercolor I did, where she's removing a layer of everyday clothes, everyday appearance, to reveal the secret truth of herself. We've all got those secrets... this is sort of a recurrent theme with me, not as strong as the falling ladies of course...

Illustration Friday, submission for "sweater"
At first I couldn't think of anything for this theme, then I got this idea to use 2 paintings I already had and add 3 more really quick ones to make this story...
Our gift for Mythora
The winter was almost over but it was still so very cold. I knew Mythora must be freezing outside as she had no fireplace to keep her warm as I did , and the spring still seemed so far away.
A tiny idea came to me...
I picked up one of my lovely warm angora rabbits as they didn't need all their long fur since they stayed in by the fireside with me all day. I spun her fur right into my spinning wheel then I had a cup of tea and thanked her for her gift of such beautiful white yarn.
The next night I did the same with her sister, and the next night with her brother and so on night after night until I had enough yarn. Come the weekend I started to knit...
I spent all day and all night turning the beautiful yarn into something warm for Mythora. The sound of the clicking needles lulled my rabbits to sleep by the fireside. The next time Mythora came by I was ready and ran outside to give her our gift, holding it up in the cold sun. She leaned down so I could slide it over her head. She looked so warm now and comfortable...

Now she could be warm until spring, when we could play outside again, and have fun in the spring air and warm sun!

Illustration Friday submission for the theme of Surrender
I've actually done quite a few paintings that I thought fit this theme, but maybe this one the most.... She's surrendering to the current of the winds, to her own moods, to her dreams, to the possiblilty her dreams will fall, to the overwhelming forces of nature, and to life itself!

Illustration Friday submission for "Dusty"
This is a quick painting for the theme: Dusty. A dusty wind is blowing, love the wind, but not liking it being dusty. The umbrella helps a little though, too bad it's ruining her white dress! I like the brown paper though, and have been wanting to use that more often than the watercolors lately. It seems to fit...

Illustration friday submission for the theme "chicken"
I don't really love chickens but I do like cute little chicks... I painted this awhile ago then never did much with it. I like the fun and quickness of this style and had planned to do a bunch more. They could be everywhere and anywhere, hopping all over all sorts of animals, on teddy bears and on little girl's heads...

Illustration friday- Deja Vu
I've never really felt Deja vu but I love the idea of it.Wish I had a great story about it but....nope.
This first painting was done because I had done one like it when I first started painting again a few years ago and sold it. I liked the idea and I did this one from memory, but then found that I had taken a photo of the first one before I sold it.

Illustration friday-Resolutions!
Hello, here's a very quick submission to Illustration Friday. It's 5x7 watercolor with a tiny touch of colored pencil. I spend a lot of time thinking about resolutions and make a ton of lists, these are my top three.
Happy New Year!

Illustration Friday-winter
This is my first submission for illustration friday. Hopefully a habit I will continue... Winter is the perfect theme to start with as I've been doing falling ladies in winter for a little while now, can't explain why they have nothing on but socks and scarves and hats.
This one is available in my etsy shop and is titled "Warm woolen mittens"
