Sunday sketches
These boxes of pretty soaps have inspired me lately, I love the soft look of them, so today I used one as color inspiration for my latest girl.

Spoonflower weekly contest
One other thing I am trying to do more regularly this year is enter the weekly spoonflower contest....
This week's theme is mosaic which turned out to be quite a fun theme....
So if you like the final fabric you can go
here to vote, but no pressure. I am really entering to get better at repeat designs and learn a bit. Making fabric is addicting! And I got to do bees too, another favorite theme...
happy paint party Friday!

An octopus for scribblepicnic
I have been meaning to work on a poster as a follow up to my alphabet book that I have finished (but not yet cleaned up in photoshop yet to create the book in Blurb).
I had so much fun creating the alphabet kids and animals that I wanted to put them all together in one place. The newly created scribblepicnic artist co-op challenge over at
Dottyhill has a theme of Octopus this week, (along with a giveaway if you join in today) and it got me started on my poster.......More to come I hope!

Small magic in February
Although I missed the last few months for various reasons, I am still trying to stick to my plan of posting on the 13th of every month about the ways I find small magic. Small magic being the everyday little pleasures that bring you joy, or the secret memories of whimsical, most likely unplanned, wonderful moments in life. My original post was here. And I would still be happy if you joined in, and added a link to a small magic post of your own, as Nicolas has done.... just a photo or a few words even.
one video here
This month the first thing I thought of when I was deciding what to post was the thing I crave constantly.... normally I would be thinking sweet treats right now, but what I truly crave is..... painting. I love watching watercolor paint flow. It relaxes, soothes and is just as good as meditation. I wish I had a nice video that truly demonstrates this but I didn't have my tripod today so I couldn't get a nice slow motion video of the beauty of the paint, but instead I have 2 very short, like a few seconds short, videos of painting hearts today. Which I painted just because I wanted to watch the paint move, not for any other reason. Which to me is the most fun way to paint... for no purpose other than to enjoy it!

Worked on some more faces this week
I didn't take that make art that sells class, but as I am on instagram a lot lately, I have ended up following some artists who are taking it and every now and then they post their art from the class assignments, and every now and then I follow along. I put my "Birdie" character on a scene and I gave her some expressions too, with more pages to show once I get them photographed. It is actually quite fun!
And then yesterday, as a reward for going to the dentist, (I truly hate the dentist, not him personally, just the experience) I went to the antique shop and bought myself some embroidered hand towels and 2 Nancy Drew books. I never even wanted Nancy Drew books before, but yesterday they seemed to be just the thing I needed. I actually can't wait to read them.
Have a great week!

Another week flew by!
Hard to believe January is over, the older I get, the faster it goes.
The new valentine cards I posted last week are listed in my Etsy shop now...
And the new direction these led me in turns out to be .... paper dolls. Actually I have wanted to make paper dolls for years but until I did those valentine girls I couldn't actually picture the dolls, but now the "friends of the fae" are in focus on my head, ready to be brought out. Some nights I can't sleep for thinking of new ones.
More are in the works, as well as listing more cards and prints since I did break down and force myself to figure out photoshop!
