I worked on two girls this week...
creatively that's about it...
My oldest daughter is back home for a few weeks as she's off work for the summer so our schedules have been altered a bit.
And I must be tired because I cannot think of a thing to say about these pieces.
So, they stand alone today.
Have a good weekend!

Hombre garden tags
The plant markers that I made a few years ago are still good but they get hidden by the plants as they grow so I wanted something new and taller this year...
so I made up a bunch of garden tags using wooden tags that are the size of giant popsicle sticks or miniature paint stirrers that I got at HobbyLobby. The only other thing I used were cheap acrylics and a permanent marker...
I started by painting one end straight from the bottle, then without cleaning my brush I added a second color in the middle, blending a bit with my finger, then adding more of the second color till I got to the other end....
Then I added simple patterns in white...
And last I wrote on them with a black permanent sharpie...
I am really loving the way they turned out!
I would love to know what types of garden tags you use....
and here's a link to the original garden markers I made two years ago...

what's blooming in my yard right now...
wild roses
the phlox imposters: wild sweet rocket
buttercups
and some unknown hedge with tiny white flowers that smell delicious
Mango and DirtyPopcorn love to eat plants... I already learned this the hard way when they ate half the garden plants I started from seed indoors this spring...
“I remember once walking out hand in hand with a boy I knew, and it was
summer, and suddenly before us was a field of gold. Gold as far as you
could see. We knew we'd be rich forever. We filled our pockets and our
hair. We were rolled in gold. We ran through the field laughing and our
legs and feet were coated in yellow dust, so that we were like golden
statues or golden gods. He kissed my feet, the boy I was with, and when
he smiled, he had a gold tooth.
It was only a field of buttercups, but we were young.”

“Tumbling-hair
picker of buttercups
violets
dandelions
And the big bullying daisies
through the field wonderful
with eyes a little sorry
Another comes
also picking flowers”

“Westley: Hear this now: I will always come for you.
Buttercup: But how can you be sure?
Westley: This is true love-you think this happens every day?

Westley: I told you I would always come for you. Why didn't you wait for me?
Buttercup: Well...you were dead.
Westley: Death cannot stop true love. All it can do is delay it for a while.
Buttercup: i will never doubt again.
Westley: There will never be a need.”

Magic beans are harder to make than you would think!
This turned out to be one of those weeks where I start a million things, paintings, posts, sketches, etc and finish nothing. I didn't even have anything to take a photo of yet so I am posting this even though they were a fail.....
I wanted to create magic beans...
they are made of fimo and some of them are painted,
and I sprayed them all with the sealant I use for my rocks.
That was my mistake...
apparently on fimo clay it just doesn't dry.
They are cute but sticky and when you scrape them with your fingernail the paint and sealant come off.
I must have needed to sand them more...
Maybe I will try again, as I think the world needs magic beans...
Actually I did finish something...
I posted it on tuesday here...
Hope you all had a more productive week than me.

creative tuesdays
I haven't joined in with this creative group of people in quite some time, but when I saw their challenge was all about showing children this time, and heading off "into the world of childlike wonder, imagination, curiosity." I decided I had to play along, and do another one of my alphabet girls...
I thought it was kind of funny that when I planned to do a young girl, she ended up looking older with her curves and fancy hat, and her expression....
so I did a second one to get them back to being children like I had been doing before I actually was thinking about their age...
so here's Moxie!
and her mouse dressed like Mermaids.....
(I would love a skirt like this!)
see you friday with more ....

playing in spoonflower...
sorry, no time to talk, but I wanted to show a quick fabric I was working on in spoonflower...
here's the original watercolor....
and here's the fabric...
still not sure it's the final product, may change the colors or even go backward and try to get the original watercolor look back...
and may change the repeat style as it kind of shows the original shape too much...
so many ways to altar it and so little time...
see ya, gotta dash!
