Friday already, time flies so fast.... my computer is fixed so you get to see lots of photos from our week at the cabin! we've gone to the same spot for 5 years now.

We spotted 77 of these guys on our early morning hike! and herer's my haiku...

Seventy seven
little orange salamanders
in the morning dew

It's become tradition I make a sand mermaid...

Below is the pond we hiked to, I just realized I don't even have a photo of the lake! I take so many every year I guesss I figured I didn't need any more.

And here's some pages in my sketchbook...

And here's a heart sketch for AyalaArt in red and white for Artists PlayRoom and the zentangle for IamtheDiva...

And some mosters for Butterfly effect...

Happy paint party friday!

  2. Sounds like a wonderful time spent at the cabin. I love the falling ladies, and now mermaids? How did you know? I love the Selkies. Having been a Pirate in a former life, I know quite a few personally, but none as beautiful as the one in the sand and the one you have sketched on the journal page.

Very nice. Falling salamanders? I mean, they had to come from somewhere! Just wondering'

    Peace

  5. Your sketchbook must be such a delight to look through with so many wonderful sketches! I love mermaids and, in recent years, I was told about Selkies which are linked to the seals according to Celtic belief.....very interesting. I quite like your tradition of creating a sand mermaid.

    Cute salamander and Haiku! :)

  9. I love salamanders... when I find one I think of the legends of them being fire-walkers... your art work and sand sculptures are wonderful, and those orange fungi on the trees? I can imagine your seventy-seven salamanders curling up on them for naps! Thanks for taking us along to your cabin!

It looks like you had a wonderful vacation. 77 salamanders! That's a healthy population! How do you make the sand mermaid? Is she different every year? May I send your haiku to my Mom who is 91 years young and love haiku!

  19. 77 salamanders? I have total salamander envy. and I've made a sand mermaid every summer of my life since I was a wee girl and I've never met another person who does that. how delightful to find a kindred spirit. my son could care less, but I've indoctrinated a friend's daughter and we've made one together the last few years.

  20. I love a look into a sketchbook...and I kind of want strawberry leaf tea.... sounds yummy... mind you I have had to hide the blackberry sage as it seems the whole house has fallen in love with it and I am thinking they would be quite keen on that as well... I wish I could sit and flick through your books... maybe one day...xx

  25. Wow! Your art is fabulous! I'm very impressed with your skills. And, those salamanders are so cute. I don't know if I would be brave enough to touch one and I doubt seriously I would ever hold one, but they are pretty neat looking. Anyway, I'm Sarah, I just started following, I look forward to visiting again soon.

    Have a wonderful weekend!
