I wasn't going to join any new challenges this year, i was just going to FOCUS on what i wanted to do. That was to be my word of the year. I didn't make any resolutions but on my birthday, which was last movember, i did make a list of 50 things i wanted to do beore i turned 50, (this November). One thing on the list was read 50 books, i have already finished 13 or so..... So when i saw this challenge i decided to join in, (late and all) because it was what i planned to do anyway. The challenge is to read a book a month and make a piece of art, any kind, related to it in some way.

So i am behind, as others have already posted there first review of their book and art to go along with it on friday, but here 's my stack of 12 books i plan to read. I just picked 12 off my shelf that i hadn't read yet.... So by friday i will have finished the one i started last week, a short one, and have a post on it.

Here's the link to the club...

3 more ladies conjured...
one ready to show...

color inspired by driving into a sunset this week,

As I work east of where i live,
i drive into the sun, morning and night most days of the year.
For a short time, i drive home in the dark,
but now, for an even shorter time...
sometimes i get to drive into a sunset!

and more color inspiration..
these have been hanging in my kitchen all fall and winter so far.
Finally dry enough to grind.
not sure what type of peppers, a variety given to us by a friend...
hot because just grinding had us sneezing and tearing up...

Hot, deep red and rich
homemade pizza imagined
hot spaghetti dreams

As for the lady, i like the mandala medallion behind her, but she looks too much like the magazine model i looked at, the pose is too "fashion"... next week the ladies are lighter, looser, less dramatic more art nouveau and botanical mixed... bet you can't wait to see.

oh, and i do still plan on redoing my blog but i have been working on etsy first... go here for my store and here for my new "about" page where you can actually see me. I tend to hide from view but i am there if you have had a need to know what i look like..."see" you all next week!

Eatting last week's words

As soon as you say something, everything changes to prove you wrong.
I said I was done with the falling ladies....
Done...

i haven't felt like painting them in over a year...
then people commented nice things about them...

and i thought, "well i could do them with just one color like I have been doing with my latest mandalas"

Now, I have soooo many ideas for painting falling ladies...

I finished two this week already...
here's the first...

before the 2nd here are a couple photos of my week...
just because....

and a bit more surreal than usual...

Falling with a pig
don't we all do this sometimes?
 wearing pink ribbons?

well, happy paint party friday and hello to everyone at Haiku my heart... both wonderful places to stop by on a friday! see you!

feeling poetic

hello,
i want to apologize for my absence lately from blog land....
i have a million excuses and none
I just didn't have much to say for awhile...

I've been waiting in the wings
the wings of a blackbird
waiting for the colors of dusk
gathering shadows from the
snow filled ditches...

My mandalas are changing,
Less color... I was and am inclined to add every color available as i paint but i don't like the look when they are done... So i decided to try to keep it simple and paint something i actually might want to look at later.

Rythmically complex
One color saturated
Self satisfying

I use my fingers to tap out syllables when i write haiku...

Also, i feel the need to change my blog and etsy shop so the falling ladies will be leaving for good.... I need a makeover for the New Year!

Thanks for stopping by and forgiving me for not visiting lately!
