Scribblepicnic
Hello, the theme this week over at Dotty hill is boat. And like umbrella, a boat us something that to me symbolizes safety. I am not sure why, I don't really love or dislike actual boats, but to me the image of a boat in art represents being carried to safety, especially if the boat is a tiny sweet boat, or a folded paper boat etc. I am sure that us just me, but that thought led me to this piece....

ReplyDeleteJust simply lovely!
ReplyDeleteThanks
DeleteAndrea,
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely picture and thought too. And a fairy too. Your watercolour background is soft and the colours of the piece wonderful.
Blessings
Janis
Thanks, I have been striving for a softer way with watercolors so glad it is working!
DeleteThis is so beautifully done! I like your theme of safety.
ReplyDeleteThanks!!!!
DeleteSo nice! Is this painted completely flat on paper? The waves especially have such great depth to them!
ReplyDeleteCute border, too!
Yes, it is flat, I appreciate your comment , thanks!
DeleteYour little fairy captain looks quite at home on her paper boat. How sweet and how magical!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much!
Deletethis is lovely. I like the idea of boats taking you home instead of away which I think is what this piece is about. she is such an adorable little being with her wings. just lovely.
ReplyDeletehave a lovely day.
Yes, that IS what I was hoping to convey, thanks!
DeleteOOh, that is a really good insight from Lissa above and totally agree. Andrea, this is a truly astounding piece! I'm so loving seeing a different side of your creativity coming out lately with these scribble picnics. I love that it is a handmade paper boat and then, naturally, a fairy. So magical indeed. Love the border too. The whole thing is very polished. Thank you for this lovely addition!
ReplyDeleteHigh praise indeed! I do think the challenges have been good for me, and I am really enjoying them!
DeleteI know the feeling only too well when being returned safely to harbor and home by a ship! Being far from shore is exciting, but there is also always a tiny feeling inside that the deep water can be unkind and unforgiving at times. . . . .and of course there is nowhere to actually 'run to'!
ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely concept expressed in your beautiful art here Andrea, and I love that you have set it inside a circle which also gives the feeling of a round trip.
Happy day - Mary
Now I want the whole story to turn into a book. Great beginning.....xox
ReplyDeletelooks great! love the stylized waves
ReplyDeleteSuch sweet details in this, the wings, dress, around the circle, the waves. Just a joy to see!
ReplyDeleteAndrea, she is so sweet and beautiful. I love the minimal color and the circle trimmed with delicate flowers. Well done, you! :)
ReplyDeleteOH, I absolutely LOVE this piece, Andrea! Beautiful!
