This week I was back to drawing and painting alphabet kids.
whatever I am working on I am obsessed with working on...
until..
I am not.
then I move to the next all encompassing thing.
I did these for about 5 days and have even more than I am posting here... I couldn't wait to have a spare moment here or there to draw a few more, my new sketchbook is 1/4 full.
then I moved on to the novel and that is what I am working on the last two days.
Kara is actually the result of a dream. I dreamed I was getting remarried and hadn't planned the wedding or my clothes and people were arriving so I threw on a red leather fringe skirt (which truly I do not own) and red boots and a friend who saw my crooked veil, quickly glued a ceramic house on top of it to cover the faded flowers and down the aisle I went...
I have no idea what this dream could mean?!?
But it gave me an outfit for Kara....
I liked Opie but did not like his owl so I started over. The replacement is even worse in my opinion so I will do it a thrid time...
I liked the second one's sneakers better but everything else I hate.
argh!

Gotta run...
What a wonderful project! I love all your kids and their animals.
ReplyDeleteSuch sweet and fluid paintings ~ Love them!
ReplyDeleteHappy Weekend to you ^_^
These are so wonderful and so full of fun. You have a amazing talent :)
ReplyDeleteAhhh so wonderful to see more of these delightful illustrations! The are coming along beautifully! I admire your persistence to get the details just right. They are all beautiful and imaginative Andrea! Now on to the novel you say? How is that coming? :)
ReplyDeleteA have a post planned in a day or two about the novel, it is progressing, you will see!
DeleteI love these alphabet kids (and I think you are too hard on yourself - both of your Opie drawings are great already!... But I can definitely empathize with not liking what you've done & wanting to get things just right)
ReplyDeleteAwesome! I hope you make sets. I bet there are a lot of teachers and parents who would use these cards for teaching the alphabet. As for your dream...hmmm...a ceramic house on the top of your head? what could that be about? At least it was a very interesting dream and created another character for your set. You are doing an amazingly great job and they are all so cute and creative! Happy PPF and have a wonderful week! Rasz
ReplyDeleteThese are well done and delightful. As a former teacher, I would have loved to have them posted around my classroom. Don;t you just love it when your subconscious steps forward a presents you with ideas?
ReplyDeleteThese are all fabulous!!! Each one has such character and kids as well as adults will love these. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeletethese are each quite wonderful and a joy to see!
ReplyDeleteThese are so great. I LOVE your artistic stylings. I have never seen anything like them. :D Your artwork fills my eyes to the brim--which is the greatest compliment I can give.
ReplyDeleteFabulous! I just love all of these characters so much! That dream is incredible too..Cupcake has three pairs of really really cool red boots..One she's had resoled! I have a feeling that Opie and his owl need their own spin off story...about Opie and all his different Owls...and how he is looking for an owl of his perfection!! Just a thought! Can't wait to see more!
ReplyDeleteHugs Giggles
Imelda and her iguana are wonderful. These are so stinkin cute! xox
