5 things

Busy few weeks lately....
So here's a list of 5 things that made me happy....

1. Rain after so much summer without it.

2. The smell of wild phlox (true wild phlox) on my desk at work.

3. 40 years with this man... We celebrated our 32nd anniversary this week! This is us in high school...

4. Made a little pouch for my gift cards and credit cards out of my own fabric. It took only 2 8x4 pieces and 2 4x4 pieces and fleece for lining.

5. More alphabet kids painted.

More alphabet kids

YAnother miserably hot, humid friday has come around so quickly. But that means since it is friday it is time for paintpartyfriday. I actually have been thinking I may stop linking up as I never have the time to get around and visit more than one or two other people there, and I feel guilty just linking and running. I have been with Eva and Kristin since the beginning I think, only missing a few weeks here and there. And all the people at Paintpartyfriday have always been so supportive and creative. Maybe I will just pop in and check them out when I can instead of linking weekly. But I want to thank all the visitors from there who have fathfully stopped by and commented even when I didn't get back to their blogs in return!

I have been working on painting more alphabet kids....

D is for Dex and his ducklings, which will be the page before his daughter and her dogs that I Posted awhile ago......
I had to have TWO D pages because i just needed these ducklings to happen.
And I started Z'beth and her zebra. They are not quite complete but I posted it as a WIP.

Stay cool!

And don't forget to come back on the 13th for my first official 'finding small magic' post.

Timbe and her turtle

My computer has died yet again. It happens at least once a year. After last time when I lost over a years worth of photos I have been much more diligent about saving all my photos to a thumb drive. But I don't think I managed to save my last 4 videos that I made for the mandala class I was creating because I didn't have room left on the drive and then I kept forgetting to buy a new one. I would say that is a sign I need to give up on making that class, at least temporarily anyway. Time to concentrate on other things! And I certainly have enough other ideas to go with for awhile.

It does put a little crimp in my blog plans as now I will not be able to use the photos I did save till I get a new computer or fix the old one as I don't have a way to get them from the drive onto the web, but I have the iPad and can take new photos of whatever I need. I may get a Mac this time as I am sick of viruses. I  had to rant a bit but actually I don't even want to think about it now..... On to other things!

Here's another little watercolor girl for the alphabet book I started.....it is still in progress as I haven't finished the lettering or the turtle details. But I am submitting it in time for Sunday sketches at bluechairdiary.blogspot.com !

alphabet girls J & D

I worked on two girls this week...
creatively that's about it...
My oldest daughter is back home for a few weeks as she's off work for the summer so our schedules have been altered a bit.

And I must be tired because I cannot think of a thing to say about these pieces.
So, they stand alone today.
Have a good weekend!

creative tuesdays

I haven't joined in with this creative group of people in quite some time, but when I saw their challenge was all about showing children this time, and heading off "into the world of childlike wonder, imagination, curiosity." I decided I had to play along, and do another one of my alphabet girls...

I thought it was kind of funny that when I planned to do a young girl, she ended up looking older with her curves and fancy hat, and her expression....
so I did a second one to get them back to being children like I had been doing before I actually was thinking about their age...
so here's Moxie!
and her mouse dressed like Mermaids.....
(I would love a skirt like this!)

see you friday with more ....

more alphabet kids...

This week I was back to drawing and painting alphabet kids.
whatever I am working on I am obsessed with working on...
until..
I am not.
then I move to the next all encompassing thing.
I did these for about 5 days and have even more than I am posting here... I couldn't wait to have a spare moment here or there to draw a few more, my new sketchbook is 1/4 full.
then I moved on to the novel and that is what I am working on the last two days.

Kara is actually the result of a dream. I dreamed I was getting remarried and hadn't planned the wedding or my clothes and people were arriving so I threw on a red leather fringe skirt (which truly I do not own) and red boots and a friend who saw my crooked veil, quickly glued a ceramic house on top of it to cover the faded flowers and down the aisle I went...
I have no idea what this dream could mean?!?
But it gave me an outfit for Kara....

I liked Opie but did not like his owl so I started over. The replacement is even worse in my opinion so I will do it a thrid time...
I liked the second one's sneakers better but everything else I hate.
argh!

Gotta run...
