Inspiration into art

Come with me as I go for a walk on my lunch hour.
To my favorite spot along the river...
Just to see what we can find...

Back at my desk to see what these collections will turn into...

 and a second piece....

drawing lines on lines
repeated patterns  to soothe
becoming complete

These original watercolors are both available in my etsy shop....

scattered thoughts

a week of hot cold, up down and in between...
but I think it's better to leave out the details of my fragmented concentration,
and just go with the photo highlights...
(well maybe also to say Thank God; Goddess; the Universe; a guy named Jack under the bridge; or a big silver fish in the sky
for my husband who always reminds me everything will be OK,
 because it will!!!!)

purple flowers left
pollen covered bees busy
ignoring my clicks

I have been photographing bees on flowers all summer, easy to get, but hard to get the perfect one, you may have to see more next week...
and the week after...

Of course I made a mandala...

I don't usually have family pics on my blog
but I was out taking photos for my older son's senior portrait....
this one is my favorite, not for the yearbook
but for me,
as it's actually "him" caught in between forced smiles for the shots he was ready for...

I googled 'ideas for senior portraits' to come up with the idea to pose him on the tracks....
google is so great like that

and it's my Dad's birthday today....
Happy Birthday Dad!

and a few pages in my sketchbook...
someday I will make  a flip-through video of my sketchbooks....

I totally did not have a good purple available to paint with .... yuk to that!

That's it for now I guess....
I have been painting maps, imaginary places, lots of them...
but that is for another week...

Lime green and purple

I couldn't help but do another mandala this week, it's the most calming thing to paint for me... no rules really, no expected outcome, just experimenting... it's just hard to know when to quit...

And  I doodled a girl in my sketchbook as well...

And here's tiny turtle to say hello...I was going to sketch him but never got to it because after putting the mandala up on the wall and staring at it ... I realized it needed more payne's gray (even though I am trying to stay away from black lines... my mandalas are more lighter and looser than last year, I still couldn't resist, it just didn't look done) and I hadn't actually done the bit of orange evenly...
So here's the final mandala with more added bits and more contrast...
Oh and I did measure... it's 14x17"

Happy Summer of Color week 3!

lines and colors and words, oh my

I've got a video for you this week of making this latest mandala.

It's a bit shaky  in certain sections as I handheld the camera while I was painting. Totally need a tripod I guess. But it's a first try so don't judge it too harshly! It's alittle over 5 minutes I think so just GO WATCH IT!!!! I really enjoyed making the videos, almost as much as painting so let me know what you think, and hopefully I'll get better as I go and I've started the next video already...

full of rich color
paint flows and blends together
dancing pen lines move

and......
One more Rainbow mandala,
and a sip of sangria to go.....

See you soon!

I'm linking to Paint party friday here
I'm also linking to haiku my heart here
and Butterfly effect for their flower theme here ( can you see the tiny white flowers I added, just a touch but my next mandalas is ALL Flowers!)
and don't forget to visit the artist's play room this week too with their rainbow theme, here.
