it's the only one on my list that is written for young adults. We have a table at work, called our lawn sale table, where people bring in what they don't want and we buy each other's junk, cheap. so i picked this up one day and bought it for 50 cents because i liked the sketches they used to illustrate it, plus I always love a book about time travel, even if it's for kids. The sketches are meant to be from the journals of the manor's previous owner, and i have always loved this style of art. And who doesn't love sneaking a peek at someone else's sketchbook?
So I did like the book, it is was it is supposed to be, an adventure book for young adults. It was a fun quick read, and it leads up to what will be a series of time travel adventures for a brother and sister and their friend. There's secrets codes, hidden passageways and of course there's an evil villainess, we don't see much of her yet but will in the next book I am sure. If i had time i might keep reading them but probably not as i have soooo many other books i want to read.
so that was the "review" and here's the art inspired by the book. Well more inspired by the art in the book. I tried to keep my mandalas mixed with falling ladies loose and airy like a botanical, i left the pencil lines like a journal sketch, i felt a bit art nouveauish like i promised last week... and i am happy with the result...
